Based on what do you say that the wifi connection is working? Because it really sounds like the device is unable to pull data from the server. Are you able to play mp3's from the SD card. Does News/Weather/Twitter/Stock market work?

Hi, Having major issues with new firmware 1.42. Just installed the loader v2 and firmware on a brand new OTEK IPTV510 KMP510 with original V1.7 firmware. Loader then Firmware went in fine, but some of the menus go in circles, and when the "Internet Radio" is clicked, it comes up on the left with "16 entries" and the list is the same as in the settings screen (Network options etc). Same thing is happening on the "Internet TV", "Shoutcast", "Podcast", "Vodcast". Can't seem to get to any content, just dead menus coming up identical to the settings menu. Also, I can't seem to enter "Myfavourites user account" and some of the options just do nothing in various menus. Wifi connection is definately up and ok. Something very wrong with this. Any assistance would be great, as cannot use the unit now. Cheers, 6J6A. (Last Edited by 6J6A on June 24, 2012, 1:29 pm)

By selecting settings/autopower_off_sleeptimer/sleeptimer_action: OFF works everything fine, unit is switching off as set before. Compared to selecting sleeptimer in version 1.41 before, is now in 1.42 much more convenient to set the timer while listening to the radio.
Here maybe a little bug?! By selecting settings/autopower_off_sleeptimer/sleeptimer_action: Night_Clock, Arnova is switching to night_clock (brightness has to be adjusted before!) but the unit is not switching off, radio is not getting silent and is not switching off! Due to the update from 1.41 to 1.42 some previous setting had to be set again, like user for the favorites, type of remote controller, timezone... and you have to go through the list. Now it works very nice! Sleep timer setting is also much nicer, I can go directly while listening to the radio. Thanks a lot William!!! Great work! I'll send you a little donation 2. time now and hope to find some friends to follow me... You really deserve it! (Last Edited by lapb on June 23, 2012, 11:59 am)

Yeah, users who just want to use the mediaplayer function while running on battery power need to be able to disable wifi.. that lowers power consumption..

Found the reason!!! WORKS AGAIN!!!
I had to turn on in the network settings, the "ACTIVE NETWORK DEVICE": WIFI
Quote: Dear William! After updating firmware from 1.41 to 1.42 I have problems with the unit. It seems the WIFI connection is not working properly, with that is not working anything! The symbole for network keeps remaining red after switching on the unit. When I go for search network, it will find my WIFI network, the symbol in Arnova turns then also green but still no radio / tv works. Arnova is showing network connection problems. (With the previous version 1.41 it was working excellent and except the update no any other change was made!) Please help! Can I load the version 1.41 again? |

One further point: Is it possible to reduce the startup time for the resume functionality (autostart -music playback from Internet Stream). I notice that the network connection is established and the resume functionality needs round about 15 seconds to start the media player. After this it needs further 5-6 seconds to buffer the stream. It would be great, if we can select the buffer status (maybe 5% instead of 20% - current). I don't think, that's an network issue, cause I'm running on a 16tsd DSL without problems. |
Hello, the min. cache is 5 in 1.41 when playing audio streams. I have changed it anyway so you can select it in the settings screen.

Do you know, when you will find time to optimize the speed of the processor. 430Mhz sounds very good und would be helpful, if often used data will cashed on the flash drive or a SD card to speed up the response of the radio. |
Nope, the cpu speed increase needs to be tested very extensively when I get it to work. So far the system crashes when I try to increase. So I first need to find the right way and then need to make sure it works on all boxes.
Regarding caching, a lot of data is already cashed on the system (mtdblock7 & mtdblock8). The main reason is that with the original firmware, the devices are not able to find any stations when the Chinese server is down (which happens from time to time). With the Listenlive firmware these lists are cached and updated on the fly whenever there is newer data. Loading data from the cache is faster than from the net. Since the 1.41 version the list of news feeds is also loaded from the server and cached. In the upcoming 1.42 release stock lists come from the server as well and also language files are updated on the fly. All to improve speed and flexibility.

Dear Penbox, the new version 1.41 looks good (german setup). UPnP is working fine and the included FTP and Samba Server options are great. I'm still using Twonkey from my server. I notice that the network connection is established and the resume functionality needs round about 15 seconds to start the media player. After this it needs further 5-6 seconds to buffer the stream. Br and thanks for your firmware. I'm still using it since 1.1 and was missing the UPnP support in the early days. Now, it's very good . (Last Edited by masterflai on June 18, 2012, 10:45 am)

Ok, there is a little bug. When you turn an alarm on and then turn it off, the alarm is not really disabled in the real-time clock hardware. Thats why some people get an alarm in the morning eventhough it looks like there is no alarm set. I have it fixed and will do some additional tests.
Update: it is fixed.

Hello, yesterday I set the alarm. After some tries I stopped it and I saw "alarm off". But today it started again, and when I set "alarm off" again, I got the messages: I alarm set off ready. I'm sorry, I don't know the exact words any more.

Sorry, that was a typo - I missed the word "no" (highlighted in quote). To clarify this: it often takes some tries to play from my UPnP devices, forcing me to either wait for an uncertain amount of time or to keep starting and exiting the Media Player just to find out the device list is still empty... Updating language files without reflashing is a brilliant idea - this way small mistakes and additions can be quickly fixed. Will this use a fixed source, i.e. your server or will it be possible to use custom language files from SD or internal memory as well?

restore to factory default and make sure to clear cache memory when asked
|
@William:
I did that including the clearing of cache memory but this morning I found my ARNOVA switched on again. Different from the "normal switch on" there was no playing of the last radio station. Alarms are not active.
To my ENVIVO: Is it possible to load the 1.4 recovery files again with function 1 of the loader 2.0 or is function 6 necessary for that?
15.06.12: ARNOVA is switched on in the morning again AND: After switching off and later switch on my volume presetting is away: reduced to the default minimum ...
16.06.12: ARNOVA is switched on in the morning again AND: After switching off and later switch on my volume presetting is away: reduced to the default minimum ...
17.06.12: It´s Sunday and first time my ARNOVA is NOT switched on in the morning! Maybe it thinks it is a alarm clock ...
18.06.12: Monday again! ARNOVA is switched on in the morning again. AND: After switching off and later switch on my volume presetting is away: reduced to the default minimum ... (Last Edited by explmag on June 18, 2012, 8:32 am)

Yes, I am working on a few new things. One of them is to push new language files to the devices without reflashing.
Quote:

Yeah, that is something I do not like either. It became more visible with the 1.41 release since the status bar got more use in other pages now as well. Only at the main menu and the more apps screen the bar is at the bottom. I can put it at the top so that the bar is always at the top.

|
The news feeds are one of the things that went from static data to a list that is dowloaded from the server in the 1.41 version. You probably did not notice but compared to the 1.41 release I have added the NDR RSS feeds earlier today. This step now works. Although it is for all devices the same update, it allows me to update and fix broken feeds. It now needs a server side modification to let users select their own feeds.

Thanks a lot for all the effort put in improving the firmware. So far,

Some minor things I noticed or would like to suggest:

- improvement: Why is the status bar shown in different positions (top/bottom)

- request: It would be great if there were an option to select and arrange the News channels via the My Favorites web page. For example, due to lack of language skills, I have no use for Spanish or Dutch news, whereas many people might not be able to read German ones...

A strange thing: For the second time now since installation of vs. 1.41 on my ARNOVA (which was switched OFF in the evening as usual) I found the device switched ON again next morning showing the main menu. There was no reaction to the remote control then, only the off-button worked and so it was possible to switch if off again.
It showed the "online" icon, as my WIFI was automatically switched on shortly before according to my WLAN-timetable. But to believe that the switch on of the WIFI is able to switch on the device as well seems to be believing in vodoo ...

Hello Hans, Thanks for your testing work The above one is already fixed.
Quote:
- (bug) InternetTV : when exiting after stream failure, mixed menu and error screen displayed |
Yeah, I noticed that too. Quote:
- (bug) Recording : appears to work on any type of A/V stream (it starts...), but fails and hangs if other than internet radio. |
Indeed, recording is blocked in Internet TV but it tries to start when you try via MyFavorites, Internet TV. Now solved as well.
Quote:
- (observation) PODcast : works fine ONLY after reloading my favorites POD list on the website!! |
Uh, No idea what you mean with that.
Quote:
- (observation) Mediaplayer : PNP server and contents displayed correctly (Mediatomb and W7/wmp11) - audio playback is possible, but video playback not possible (all formats) |
I will do more tests. Here it works fine with video files as well. Although files containing DTS and some high resolution are not working. This is more than the cpu cna handle..
Quote:
- (request) Recording : works when started by 'red' button, it would be nice to have 'on the fly' recoding aswell !!) |
Pretty hard to get that working for now, I can get "on-the-fly" but then two tasks are running (and streaming) simultanously. Thats not what we want. MPlayer refuses to output sound while recording. Currently it is solved by starting recording in mplayer and then a seperate task for playing the recorded data. (Open for suggestions..)
Quote:
- (request) Recording : name to include date AND time (ddmm-hhmm) instead of hhmmss only |
Ok, modified to ddmm-hhmm.
Quote:
- (request) Mediaplayer: RC Home button does not work (a quick exit from mediaplayer to main menu would be nice!) |
[Home] does take you back to the main menu in most screens, just not during playing. Will try to add that as well.
Quote:
- (request) Mediaplayer : Font a bit bigger, for station name in particular |
Will try to increase the font.
Quote:
- (request) Mediaplayer : Subtitling??? |
Perhaps, already tried several things and so far it did not work. More time is needed for this. I would like to have it also. Quote:
- (request) Clock : The sleeptimer can't be set without RC. In Clock mode, could the central OK button be assigned to toggle steepltime ? |
Indeed, device OK button can now toggle the sleep timer as well.
Quote:
- (request) Would it be possible to make access to the SD card through USB/PC connection (as it does through Samba) ? |
No idea , I will check that.
Quote:
Could you elaborate a bit more on the Loader v2 screen options ? i.e. Does the 1st option (regular install) flash a fail-save block, or should that be done seperately? |
Loader V2 Options: 1. Perform firmware update. It will flash whatever is inside the firmware update file. With the 1.41 firmware this includes the little failsafe tool. 2. Install the recovery mode (dual boot feature, it is the mode that gets activated when you hold the two outer buttons) 3. Boot an application from the SD card, application needs to be in the root of the SD and the executable should have the name "main" 4. cleans the internal persistent drives (mtdblock7/8) and removes configuration files (useful if a cofiguration file causes problems) 5. System information (mainly to know if the device has an MTD or MMC memory controller and what the OOB size is..) 6. Write recovery image from SD to the main partition. This option is only available if the loader is started from the recovery partition. 7. Power off...
To be clear, the failsafe is actualyl the loader that is always started but normally not visible. It is activated by using an SD card with the file fs_fwrec. Failsafe is just to provide a safety net for systems that do not have the recovery mode. I will keep on using the failsafe as it works fairly well.
I also have found a way to install the recovery mode and to generate and write the normal partition fro mthe recovery mode although there are still some minor issues here and there.. Recovery mode files and recovery images will probably be provided per model. Pff. many more things on the todo list.. (Last Edited by penbex on June 11, 2012, 4:52 pm)

First of all a big compliment to Wiliam for the release of fw 1.41 !! I
have upgraded several Envivo P1119s, P1171s and a Xoro hmt350 without

been improved indeed. Nevertheless let me make some first glance

Not exactly true. The Listenlive firmware itself does not kill devices. Your Pearl got killed while loading LL1.4 due to the killerbug which is inside the original firmware. It had already damaged some flash memory parts. An update to a newer original "Pearl" firmware would have killed it as well. The longer a device runs on the original firmware, the higher the chance that it dies.

Sorry, but if you have once updated to Vs. 1.4 in the past you will get NO information about the former RM002 or RM003 versions in the settings of Vs. 1.4. If you don´t know it now you might take the wrong loader Vs. 2.0.
@William
Thank you for your info, for my Arnova it worked without knowing the former version ... wow! Now it´s time to evaluate the new release - thank you for that!
Concerning my Envivo I will contact you via mail.
Concerning my Lookee I would go to a future 1.4x as well after testing the current uPnP situation and the alarm clock (because I need this in my bedroom ...)

Hi,
I seem to have a problem with recording. Using either 'Internet Radio' or 'MyFavorites' to access the radio station and pressing the RED button on the Otek extended remote only causes the device to hang at 'Caching Data xx%' The red recording dot on the display IS lit. Under V 1.4 recording worked using 'Internet Radio' but not 'MyFavorites'.
I have two of these and both are the same.
I upgraded as follows.
1) I had V1.4 installed so used the 'Local Update from SDCard' option to install the Otek Loader V2. 2) I then installed V1.41 using Loader V2.
Function Request:
As the display is small it is too much trouble to change stations at night in bed. I therefore bought a 7" car monitor to use when the 'TV Out' function is working. Even with a larger screen the station listings would still be quite small - at least for me - so was wondering if it would be possible to increase the font size by perhaps reducing the number of stations on screen at one time?
I don't know how others feel about this or how much trouble it would be for you Penbex. Heaven knows you already do enough.
Kind regards and thank you for the V1.41 update.

Did you set the remote control type already in settings? [settings], [Remote Control Settings], [Remote Control Model] then press the mute button. Doing this the firmware can see the scancode and figure out the remote control model you have.

I can t change volume during alarm tone choice.
I Tried each button without luck, the only one that seems to do something is the Internet Radio button (it mutes the alarm)

Hi,
I cannot seem to set the alarm to use an internet radio or any favorite is that normal?
In the tones for the alarms there is one called: "weekend (Sat-Sun)"
|
Noooooo... crap.. I missed that Indeed this is the entry for the last played music stream. Try it out..
Go to the radio station you like to wake up with and play that.. stop, then go to settings to set the alarm sound and set "weekend (Sat-Sun)" you will hear a regular test sound so you can set the volume level for the alarm. when done setting the alarm level the station is stored as alarm sound. (It will actually display "last played station stored as alarm soud"
You can repeat the sequence for the second alarm. This way you can have two different stations as wake up sound. After setting the alarm you can listen to another station, use the sleep timer with that station and fall asleep. This will not affect the selected alarm stations.
Note that you can use an internet radio station, podcast, shoutcast or even a file stored on the SDCard, Internal memory or network drive.

Sleeptimer! Super solution, I can' t wish anything better! Thank you! Regarding recording, I still have to make some trials to figure it out!

Everything runs fine, I am happy with the new version. Thanks a lot! I wonder if there is a possibility to set sleep timer without going to the settings, I mean while listening to the radio, set sleep timer directly? In any case it would be a nice feature for the next version. (Last Edited by lapb on June 8, 2012, 3:14 pm) |
Hi,
You can set the sleeptimer by pressing the [stop] button when you are in the clock screen (both day/night versions). Pressing multiple times will change the sleep timer duration (90/60/45/... minutes) In the upper right corner the nr. of minutes until power down is displayed. This will count down to zero and power off.

I did everything as described, but now my Xoro is stuck on the red Xoro boot logo.... Put all files on SD-Card, the loader came up, I pressed OK, now the device only boots to the logo... Nothing happens, even the loader does not start up anymore. Could you please help me? //EDIT: Got it solved, I had to remove the SD-Card after updating the loader, then the loader 2.0 showed up, I put back in the SD-Card and firmware update succeeded (Last Edited by NosferatuAlucard on June 8, 2012, 11:48 am)

Also I am not sure anymore if I have Arnova Arnova Kmp511.2.1 Rm003 or Arnova Kmp511.2 Rm002 and can' t see this anyomore since my last update for Version 1.4. I thought I have Arnova Arnova KMP 511.2.1 RM003, this loader I put first on the unit. |
If you already have the Listenlive loader (version 1) on your device, it does not matter much which version 2 loader you take. Just grab one, if you used the RM003 version the first time, then use the loader v2 rm003 version again.
Prepare your SD card with the following files: "firmware-update.bin" from the loader archive and "llfirmware.upd" + "llfirmware.upd.md5" from the 1.41 archive and make a file "fs_fwrec" (empty file is fine) and put that on the SD card as well.. Insert the SD card in the device and power on. The fs_fwrec file will trigger the failsafe mechanism to load a new firmware. It will load the loader version 2. Once done, power on the device again. it will now boot into the new loader version 2 which looks like this:

Obviously you have to select option number 1. This option will use the llfirmware.upd files You do not need to use any of the other options.
As you can see the loader also has option number 2, a way to install the real recovery mode to your device... I still need to make files for the various models but files for this will be available later on. Once installed, the recovery mode can then be used to fix the device even when the linux partition is badly damaged.

Dear William! First of all thank you for the new release. It was first not clear which files has to be on the sd card for the update. Now I first updated the loader to version 2 and then the firmware to 1.41 via SD card on my Arnova. It looks good. I am still testing! (Last Edited by lapb on June 8, 2012, 9:50 am)

v1.3a - dated: 07 january 2012 - When network was set to "OFF" the system would crash. No longer possible. - Fixed Static IP. - Fixed the screen refresh settings not updating the display correctly. - Fixed asf streams not being recognized correctly (eg. N-TV stream now correctly identified and playing)
v1.3 - dated: 06 january 2012 - Added volume control for small remotes like used with Xoro. - Fixed top buttons. - By slowing down the device key responses key repetition got broken. It is working again now. but needs a long press. Need more test results to fine tune. - Fixed a cache bug on Podcast and Vodcast favorites. - Can now play the last played stream/file. No matter if this was before a powerdown or just some minutes ago. You can find a new option under "my favorites" where you can select "Play last audio link" to play whatever radio/mp3 file you played last. - FAV button goes directly to favorites screen - Fixed the FM tuning scale. - Fixed some stream types that refused to play. - When updating from an older firmware version the sleeptimer 'icon' got activated but not the sleeptimer itself. Fixed. - After deleting the access point list, wpa_supplicant still remembered the configuration requiring a reboot. Should be solved now. - WPA2 had some bugs causing it to fail. Routers set to WPA and WPA/WPA2 mixed were working fine. Pure WPA2 was often failing. Completely rewrote the network routines. Open, WEP, WPA and WPA2 should work now. Routines now use low level socket functions. - Static IP still failed to work due to some remembered settings. Fixed now. - Fixed the Wifi Signal strength indicator. Now it gives the real signal strength. - Twitter page now shows special characters correctly (like ÿüë etc.) - Failsafe mode now more powerful - In previous versions, the remote control buttons are used in a compatibility mode. This means only buttons that are on all remote controls are used. Now its possible to select the correct remote control type in the setup screen. No real selection is needed, just the [Mute] button has to be pressed. Since Mute is different on each model the program determines what type to use. The selection is stored so you only have to do it once. During the selection, any button other than [Mute] will push the selection back to compatibility mode. - Now that the remotes are identified, new button options have been introduced. In most cases [Home] will take you to the top of lists. [Clock] gets you to the day time clock mode. [Fav] to the favorites menu, [FM] to the FM screen, [Int Radio] and [Int. TV] to the Internet Radio/TV screens. - Twitter and Weather data gets refreshed automatically if you activate screen refreshing in the settings screen.
v1.2a - dated: 25 december 2011 - Fixed the volume button. - When the sleep timer is used, the setting survived reboots. Fixed now.
v1.2 - dated: 25 december 2011 - Added failsafe mode! If for whatever reason the application crashes, there is a backup plan. This only works on the application. It does not protect against Linux failures etc. There is a real recovery mode for this but unfortunately not installed on all models. It can however be installed on working devices that do not have the recovery already! Special files to add the recovery mode will be released after further tests. - Slowed down device key responses. - Added Samba username/password logins. Device first tries with guest login if that fails it will ask for username and password. - Fixed a few small screen print issues. - Fixed obtaining Gateway/Router address.
v1.1 - dated: 22 december 2011 Fixed (or at least they are supposed to be fixed): - most connection problems should have been solved When you power up, there is a red "network" icon in the lower right hand corner. This means the network has not been setup yet. This red "network" icon will change to green when the network drivers and configuration has been loaded. If the network has been setup correctly, the green icon should change to a white signal strength indicator within a few seconds.. At this point the connection is working properly. (the connection has been tested by a probe to a public server and there was a check for new firmware on the ListenLive server) - Static IP now also works - Network status has been modified and gives more details - Top device buttons can be used in most of the menus/screens - Under settings, setting "MyFavorites user account" will instantly clear the favorites cache. - French language has been added - Stocks are working - MediaPlayer previous/next song works. - Manual setting the time works. (and survives reboots) - NZ times should have been fixed. - Clock brightness reset issue is fixed. - OGG File support - Flac file support - FM Radio digits repositioned - Auto Power Off / Sleeptimer added - Deleting stored wifi networks - Improved Samba - Twitter account setting is now correctly saved - FM Radio presets added. Now Radio has 2 operation modes, Tuning mode and Preset mode. Toggle mode with OK button. In preset mode use < and > to switch between the six on screen stored frequencies. In Tuning mode use ^and V for freq. up/down scanning, < and > for regular tuning up/down in .10 mhz steps. Press FAV to assign freq. to currently selected memory preset. - The Alarm clock has been fixed. Alarm can be set once, every day, mon-fri, mon-sat and weekend only. OK/Directional pad activates snooze, exit/menu button deactivates the alarm.

Firmware 1.41 has been released. You can only load the 1.41 firmware from the Listenlive Loader Version 2.0 !!! So you have to update to the new loader first, then load the 1.41 firmware.
Post you findings in this thread. I will use this post to keep track of the status, bugs and fixes that have been done already in the upcoming release. In the next post you can see what has been changed in each version.
Note: firmware 1.42 will be available soon.
Changelist firmware 1.42: Fixed: Improved UPnP device detection. Fixed: When you set an Alarm sound you will see a list of preloaded sounds, the last entry is FM Radio and the entry before that is incorrectly displaying "Weekend (Sat-Sun)". This is actually the setting for the last played music stream. Fixed: When you select the Dutch language the MyFavorites screen does not display the right tes. Will be solved as soon as possible. Fixed: When playing from a local or network dream and not using the repeat function, at the end of the playlist the player loops while it should just terminate. Fixed: recording was possible in MyFavorites: Internet TV & Vodcast. This caused problems. No longer possible to select recording here. Fixed: When going from playing music to the clock screen the sleeptimer could not be set. Fixed: Activate UPnP on startup setting could be activated but did not survive reboots.. Fixed: Turning off the alarm did not really turn off an already set alarm in the real time clock hardware. Changed: Restore Factory defaults. Now has 3 questions, clear device settings, clear wifi settings and clear cache memory. Answering yes on any of the first two questions will result in a reboot. Changed: Some texts were either too large or too small. Changed: when UPnP is not activated on startup, it is only active during the Mediaplayer session (to make sure network traffic and memory use is low). Changed: List of stock market symbols was static, now it is loaded from the server. Changed: Language data was static, now it is loaded from the server. Changed: moved the taskbar from the bottom to the top of the screen in Main screen and More Apps screen. Changed: recorded file names changed to contain "ddmm-hhmm_station name". Added: Device "OK"/Center button can now set the sleep timer during clock display mode too. Added: Taskbar to media player device selection screen Added: Minimum cache size (mplayer '-cache-min' option) can now be set in the settings screen Added: Our devices have the Wifi module run in power saving mode. It is now possible to switch between power saving and max. performance. Note that also power consumption increases so this might not be a good idea when using batteries. Also note that if your Wifi is working fine, you should not really change the setting. Added: Additional languages. Translations and fixes can be added afterwards.
Reported Bugs (not yet fixed): -
Known Issues: - TV-Out is not working properly, this will be addressed as soon as possible. Unlike the official firmware, technically it is possible to drive an external screen with 720x573 or 720x482 resolution. It will take some time to get it sorted out and pull the most out of the hardware. - The devices are clocked at 378 Mhz. According to the Ingenic datasheet, the CPU can operate at 400 Mhz. Overclocking should also work up to ~430 Mhz. So I will try to get the CPU a bit faster.
Planned for a future update: Fix TVOut Media player fix for country specific characters (ëöü etc.) Support for cover art Browse via Genre when browsing TV/Radio lists. (already supported on the firmware, needs a change at the server) Previous/Next radio/tv station stream with left/right buttons while playing Improve ID3 tags, icecast information, Display song duration and related info. Improve NFS support Add a Screensaver. (Last Edited by penbex on June 20, 2012, 6:58 pm)
