Various things have been posted before. 1. Press and hold both outer buttons on top of the device and then insert the power cable.. Check if the boot process is different.. 2. Make sure you start without an sd card in the device 3. Start with an sd card inserted and make sure a file named fs_fwrec is on the device (see firmware archive for the file) If none of this works, then the device need to be fixed by opening it.. Contact me on ... for details William |

I also tried to update my Arnova KMP5.11.2.1 (from "about"-Screen) several times. Software Version is original version V1.7.
After uploading the loader "LLFirmware_loader_v2_for_Arnova_kmp511.2.1_RM001" by usb connection to internal memory I restarted the device.
When selecting Settings/Firmware Update/Internal memory by OK key there is no further reaction from the device.
It is only possible to disconnect from power. After this device restarts again.
Anybody could help? By the way: Same behavior when choosing Settings/Default setting.
Thanks a lot,
Marc

you're right....it is "Speichermedium".
I tried it 20 minutes ago step by step as written in another thread and what can i say ?
The firmware update was working now !!
I copied the firmware-file to the internal memory via USB and after rebooting and selecting the firmware update function from the menu the update was running without any problem. Now I have the new firmware (1.49) !! After rebooting again I can see the new menu and all the new icons. So far it workes !!!!
Now I have to read the manual for your firmware, because I get no radio stations displayed when I select "Internet Radio"....!?
I suggest before the Arnova Inet-Radio is working I have to get a ListenLive Pincode !? Is that right ?
Or should I do other things to get the device running ?
Until here MANY MANY THANKS for this new firmware and for your help !!!

I did 2 attempts: 1st attempt with SD-Card: After pressing the OK-Button -> File Error |
This version should only support firmware updates from internal memory or from an online source (the manufacturer).
The "file error" message means that the firmware-update.bin file was not found.
Quote:
2nd attempt with connection to my laptop ------------------------------------------ the device is shown with drive-letter G: and 3 directories: G:\MUSIC G:\PICS G:\VIDEOS I copied the "update-firmware.bin" in the root-directory G:\ |
Quote:
Restarted the device Nothing happened |
That is also correct. the update file needs to be copied to the internal memory first and then the device needs to be started using the adapter.
Quote:
Selected "Settings / Update Firmware / Storagecard" Answered "Yes" by pressing "OK"-button --> File error I have the ONE and ONLY option: Storagecard .... "internal memory" is not shown as an option on the little display !! |
Thats odd. I checked the 1.7 firmware that I extracted from the Arnova KMP511.2.1
You should have "Online" and "Internal memory"
The word "Storagecard" is not in the firmware.
In English:
[6400,Online,0,0]
[6401,Internal memory,0,0]
In German there are :
[6400,Online,0,0]
[6401,Speichermedium,0,0]
French:
[6400,Online,0,0]
[6401,Mémoire int.,0,0]
In any case, you need the second option which looks for the update-firmware.bin file on the device's internal memory.

I did 2 attempts:
1st attempt with SD-Card:
---------------------------
putting the file "update-firmware.bin" onto a SD-Card (16 GB FAT32)
inserting into the SD-Card slot of the device
Restarting the device
Nothing happened itself
Selected "Settings / Update Firmware / Storagecard"
Answered "Yes" to the question "you like to update the firmware ?" (I don't know the exact phrase...)
After pressing the OK-Button -> File Error
2nd attempt with connection to my laptop
------------------------------------------
the device is shown with drive-letter G: and 3 directories: G:\MUSIC G:\PICS G:\VIDEOS
I copied the "update-firmware.bin" in the root-directory G:\
Restarted the device
Nothing happened
Selected "Settings / Update Firmware / Storagecard"
Answered "Yes" by pressing "OK"-button
--> File error
I have the ONE and ONLY option: Storagecard .... "internal memory" is not shown as an option on the little display !!

Arnova KMP511.2.1, Installed F/W is: V1.7 It doesn't matter what type of bootloader I try to install, I get every time the message: File Error I can only update the F/W with an SD-Card... I even tried to connect the device to my laptop. I can see the device and it also has a drive letter. But what to do then ? Changing the filename from update-firmware.bin to firmware.bin ? Doesn't work... I tried Rm001 and Rm002 and Rm003 ..... no change ! Always: File Error |
You need to download LLFirmware_loader_v2_for_Arnova_kmp511.2.1_RM001.zip
Unzip the archive. You will then have a file called update-firmware.bin
Connect the Arnova to your PC, the Arnova will get a drive letter or a folder is opened..
Copy update-firmware.bin to this drive/folder.
Assuming you use windows, go to "MyComputer" and eject the device there.
Power the Arnova with the power adapter,
Prepare an SD card with the listenlive firmware file and make sure you can read the SD on the Arnova. (if needed test with an MP3 file that you put along with the firmware)
after starting the Arnova go into settings and select firmware update from internal memory.
That should give you the loader from which you can update to the full listenlive firmware via SD card.

Thats because they are outdated.
Go to [Files] Then to [ListenLive Firmware (SkyTC replacement firmware)]
then download the latest firmware (version 1.48 at the moment)
and download one of the loader files that is for the Arnova.
Llfirmware Loader V2 For Arnova Kmp511.2.1 Rm001
Llfirmware Loader V2 For Arnova Kmp511.2.1 Rm003
Llfirmware Loader V2 For Arnova Kmp511.2 Rm002
Which one you need depends on what model Arnova you have.
Go in the original firmware to settings/about and check what is listed there.
There will be RM002 or RM003..
or no mention of any RM00x, in that case you need the RM001 version.

go to [settings], [network settings]
check the 4th row.. [active network device]
is it set to [WIFI] ?
If yes, then go to [wifi access point setup] en then [auto search access points]
does it find any networks?

1.3a is no longer available as we are on version 1.4 already for a while.
There are so many fixes between those versions that it would not be worth the effort to update to the older version.
1.4 has an issue with the alarm clock. if you want to use your device as an alarm I suggest you wait a few days as there will be a new version with that fixed.

Take an SD card and put the file "fs_fwrec" on this sd card.
fs_fwrec can be anything you want.. document, text file, game, program etc. etc.. the contents of the file do not matter..
Failsafe just needs to see that specific filename.
Stick the SD card into the device and power on.
The device will then launch the failsafe mode.
Then Abort, you dont need to load a new firmware. Then reboot without the SD card in it. This will make sure the settings have been reset.

Yes, the Arnova is supported.
You first need to load the loader.
After that you can load the ListenLive firmware
Best is to use 2 SD cards.
Put loader on SD card 1. Put Listenlive firmware on SD card 2.
Perform regular firmware upgrade with SD1 (this takes perhaps 2 -3 minutes)
When the device reboots and shows a text screen
Insert SD2 and press OK (this takes much more time.. just wait and do not cut power.

Ich würde auch gern eine andere (bessere) Firmware aufspielen.
Gibt es überhaupt eine passende für mein Radio? Das Angebot überfordert mich ein wenig ........
