Now I flashed a SD-card with your new FW LL1.3a (the update-firmware.bin) and inserted it into my Arnova device; repowering, typnig after the above message was shown.
Waiting about a minute the new text "Error: Firmware update verify failed. Reboot in 10 seconds". After rebooting automatically it starts with the above "Welcome to..." message.
No chance for me to acces the device: no USB, no network.
Any ideas? Any hints?

The loader will load any firmware.
So you dont have to load 1.3a but can also 1.2 or 1.3.
It also has cleaned up your device. So thats good as well.

I would not advise any version without failsafe. Because that is really helpful with the Arnovas since those do not have the recovery mode.
The failsafe is there also when you use 1.3a. It just does not pop up unless you place a special file on the SD card to trigger the failsafe.

Hello William,

testing "Llfirmware loader for Arnova" results in a major problem:

Starting with my Arnova RM0003 with firmware LL01.2a I loaded the update-firmware.bin from the "Llfirmware loader for Arnova"-archive into flash-memory and started the update procedure.

After about half a minute there comes a screen telling me:
"Welcome to failsafe mode - FW update. Since you are here there must be a problem with your device. At this point you cannot use your device for anything else. The only option is to load a new firmware image. Your SD-card has already been prepared for this. ..."

At this time the device had no SD-card inserted, but I typed <OK>

After about a minute the "Welcome to..."-text appeares again...

Now I flashed a SD-card with your new FW LL1.3a (the update-firmware.bin) and inserted it into my Arnova device; repowering, typnig <OK> after the above message was shown.
Waiting about a minute the new text "Error: Firmware update verify failed. Reboot in 10 seconds". After rebooting automatically it starts with the above "Welcome to..." message.

No chance for me to acces the device: no USB, no network.

Any ideas? Any hints?

Horst

Hmm.. maybe because I am changing files all over the place.. :/
and yeah the times also seem to match

william, hello, could it be that your server and system is not
reachable at times, or totally overloaded? i cannot reach the
forum at most times, and also no chance to download the new
FW - it just hangs there.

tried at odd times, late last night, middle of the night 3am, and
early this morning - same.

at times, i get this error:

 - This XML file does not appear to have any style information
 - associated with it. The document tree is shown below

any idea?

greetings -   heinz

Installed 1.3 on my ENVIVO with no problems. A lot of improvements!, thanks.

I noticed the folowing:

1) in settings 'screen refreshing' changing  for 'off'to '5 minutes'  the text [selected] does not change. Pressing 'exit' and returning to  'screen refreshing'  the selected item shows the selected item. (so just a cosmetic issue)

2) in netwerk status DNS2 IP is not displayed (in DHCP mode)

3) using static IP doesn't work, after setting static IP and a reboot choosing 'network status' device locks, no response on any key. In the 'about' menu the wifi mac address is 00:00:00:00:00:00. (retested / configured his several times). Changed back to DHCP.

4) My previous WPA2 (your mail: dlink) problem is solved (could not log on). This did however not work the first time, i change in the 'static ip  network settings' the router ip to the proper IP (i use other (device is however working in DHCP mode). After the reboot WPA2 and DHCP worked.

I am very  happy with the many improvements

Update on 4) On my 2nd unit WPA2 worked 1st time, so other unit has to do with testing static IP addresses.

Hello,
I have a problem with the download of firmware 1.3. The download always stops at 56% and then the progress is quite fast at 100%. The file size is then at 25.475 Mb
I have copied the bin file to an SD card and copied out by a firmware update on the radio. The radio may not perform the update. There was an error message: "Error: firmware update fails verification".
In my opinion, the file through the faulty download is corrupt. The firmware is then not updated.

What can I do?

- Fixed top buttons
F#ck! It's cool! I'm waited it so long! )))
Thanks!!!

Morning

I redownloaded 1.3 and applied.  The preset-tuning toogle issue is now  fixed.

Regarding the Media Player, the network now shows my PC and my shares but all folders show as empty.  So not sure why they didn't show before.

The board version shows as KMP510.  V0.3
Hope this helps.....   I would love to be able to play music off my pc again....   or UPNP

Regards

Rob

Hi.
Same problem as Mike, cant upgrade from 1.0 to 1.2 or 1.3 on my Arnova.
Lets hope the Loader file will solve the problem.
Greetings from Slovenia.

Hello Mike,

There will be special "loader" files to go from the original firmwares to the latest Listenlive firmware.
This loader file can also be used on version 1.0 and will solve the issue of not being able to update.

Right now I am creating and testing the loader files. This is a fair bit of work..
as soon as this is done a message will be posted on the main page and the loader files will be in the download section.

Hi, I updated my Pearl PX-8595-675 with Firmware V1.8.6 Model KMP510.4.0 to version 1.0. But any further updates - I tried 1.2a and 1.3 failed with a verification error. On version 1.3 the error messages comes a bit later than with version 1.2a. The info shows this Model KMP51x Model Type 1-JZ4755-SD I tried the update several time with SD-card. Greeting Mike

Since you have a way of reccovering, it would be really helpful if you could give it another try..
If you have the same issue, try to get into the failsafe.
Then grab the config.ini from the SD and send it to me

I'm running a Fritzbox, with WPA2 encryption, but the Issue is, I still could not even get into the Menue to take the settings as encrypion and pass. Tried it over remote control and over the buttons, I don't get access to settings Menue, and after a few tries the device hangs.

Are you running any special form of Wifi encryption?
I have tested: Open, WEP, WPA and WPA2. All worked fine here at least for as much as I was able to configure the AP in different modes.

Hidden SSID needs to be set manually and SSID's with spaces are nto supported at the moment.
In any case, this should not be a reason for the system to hang.

You can try 1.3 again without problems. If it hangs you should first try the failsafe mode.
In that case put a file (contnets are not important) with the name "fs_fwrec" on an SD card and boot the device.
It should come with a text mode, copy the problematic config files to SD and wait for OK to reflash.

Hi William,

Thanks for your great work!!!!

The current situation:
Your tip about the recovery-mode was great, I don’n know about this trick with the two buttons.
The Device was able to go in this mode, now I’ve to find out, what is the correct firmware.
After some tries, I’ve found the right: it’s the original 1.8.6, its important, that some files to be copied to the SD-Card, in the *.bin file into the flash.

After the recover process, my device is still working!!!!

Many thanks to your great support!!!

That depends on the beginning of your serial number.. (AA../BB..)

Try to boot normally and when you have the black screen press the [page-up] button a number of times to make sure brightness is not fully turned off.
If the flash failed you would be stuck at the screen with the jumping icons and not have a black screen...

Watching DW Germ/Engl right now..
For other streams the database has to be checked. I saw there were some broken streams. It appears lots of contracts ended 31/12 and operators switched to other servers.
I even got updates reported by some broadcasters. But not all of them do that.

Loaded on my OTEK fine...

1..No Shares show up under media player now   before they showed up, but were always empty
2.. I set my remote by pressing the mute button....   but unfortunately any button press seems to toggle PRESET and TUNED on the radio now,  even using the left and right arrows to move through stations will toggle...

Anyway, its late at night in NZ... so I will continue looking for stuff tomorrow...

Feature request...
and I would love a way of have the clock when music/radio is playing....

and a question
Can you explain the differences between OK and play in the media player when playing off an SD card.   and is there a way I can stop the music repeating once its finished...

Can you check the about screen and post what the "Board version" is?
1) Did you check the workgroup name and does it match the other pc's in the network?
2) re-download and install. That will fix it. Sorry.

Clock+Music is high on the wish list. A lot of work to keep the music playing is already done. The last hurdle is more a practical one..."how to control things and what buttons to use"
When you start music from an internet station or from one of the drives, then press exit to leave the player, it is easy to popup a message and ask for abort or keep on playing.
But then what? Going through the menu with music on is not a problem. Going into settings is also fine. But there are a lot of things that disturb playback.
Like when you go into FM it needs the mixer for that task so it has to cut playback. But also with less obvious things, like when you start to mess with network settings.
Or what to do with news/twitter/weather these need to request data from the Internet. Might work but could influence internet streaming.
Then there are also things like people with the simple remote controls.. they need up/down/left right for navigating. So how can they control volume.. etc.
All things that need to be sorted out and tested, thats why it takes time to get this done.

[OK] plays a single file (the one selected).
[PLAY] plays all files in the current directory. The [repeat] button should toggle between random play and normal play. (But it seems there might be a bug in the media player)

Hi William,

update went fine on my Arnova.

Some quick findings here:

- "Play last played stream" in favourites: Tries to connect to last played stream but exits
- No german TV stream is working (also N-TV, my favourite)

Regards,
Heiko

v1.3 - dated: 06 january 2012
Feedback is welcome and the only way to get things fixed/improved/added

Thanks for the regular updates, the improvements are fantastic!

A few issues I've found, regarding the media player (from SD - samba has never worked, as above):
  1. Cannot play a directory of oggs. MP3s work fine. If I press play on the first track (as I do for mp3s), it locks into a cycle of trying to get the data from the ogg and failing.
  2. Metadata - oggs are not displaying track title (showing "n/a"). FLACs are not showing any metadata. No album art is displayed (either embedded, or folder.jpg - not sure if it's meant to at this stage though!)
  3. Pressing "play" on a directory, gives the spinning loading icon, but nothing happens. Pressing exit after this, and I get two screens overlaid.
  4. metadata seems to get an additional character on the end of it! For example "Puzzle" album is shown as "Puzzle l". "The Unforgiving" is shown as "The Unforgiving n".

Thanks,

4) Dutch TV channels (NL 1; NL2 ..) Ziggo don't work anymore; is the firmare a problem, or is Ziggo the problem ??

1) will look into it.
2) correct, this has not been added yet. See the changelog in post #2 for the changes in each version
3) Go  to settings, look for "Auto power-Off" Set that to 5/10/15/30/60 minutes and the device will play until then. The last few minutes the volume might go down slowly.
4) The streams are not playing right now. So either Ziggo is doing maintenance or the addresses of the streams have changed.

OK William,

Guess it was a case of me failing to RTFM!!

I will wait for the Arnova specific version and post back with success/failure

Buzz

As posted on the frontpage:
New firmware files for all models will be posted in the morning. These files can be used to get from an official firmware to the new 1.3
These versions can also clean up your device when there are problems. Like for example with the Arnova RM003 models where the manufacturer has a large "empty"lost+found folder which eats up free space.
So you have to wait until I have made the proper packages for the Arnova.

..working on it now..

(Last Edited by penbex on January 6, 2012, 8:25 am)

Hello William,

Tried the update on my Arnova RM003 going from LL1.0>LL1.3. It still fails with the verification error every time. I have tried this from Flash Memory and SD Card.
When trying from SD card, I have deleted the update.bin file from the Flash to save space, but still no luck.

Any ideas?

Kind regards

Changelog ListenLive firmware

v1.3 - dated: 06 january 2012
- Added volume control for small remotes like used with Xoro.
- Fixed top buttons.
- By slowing down the device key responses key repetition got broken. It is working again now. but needs a long press. Need more test results to fine tune.
- Fixed a cache bug on Podcast and Vodcast favorites.
- Can now play the last played stream/file. No matter if this was before a powerdown or just some minutes ago.
You can find a new option under "my favorites" where you can select "Play last audio link" to play whatever radio/mp3 file you played last.
- FAV button goes directly to favorites screen
- Fixed the FM tuning scale.
- Fixed some stream types that refused to play.
- When updating from an older firmware version the sleeptimer 'icon' got activated but not the sleeptimer itself. Fixed.
- After deleting the access point list, wpa_supplicant still remembered the configuration requiring a reboot. Should be solved now.
- WPA2 had some bugs causing it to fail. Routers set to WPA and WPA/WPA2 mixed were working fine. Pure WPA2 was often failing.
Completely rewrote the network routines. Open, WEP, WPA and WPA2 should work now.
Routines now use low level socket functions.
- Static IP still failed to work due to some remembered settings. Fixed now.
- Fixed the Wifi Signal strength indicator. Now it gives the real signal strength.
- Twitter page now shows special characters correctly (like ÿüë etc.)
- Failsafe mode now more powerful
- In previous versions, the remote control buttons are used in a compatibility mode. This means only buttons that are on all remote controls are used.
Now its possible to select the correct remote control type in the setup screen. No real selection is needed, just the [Mute] button has to be pressed.
Since Mute is different on each model the program determines what type to use. The selection is stored so you only have to do it once.
During the selection, any button other than [Mute] will push the selection back to compatibility mode.
- Now that the remotes are identified, new button options have been introduced. In most cases [Home] will take you to the top of lists.
[Clock] gets you to the day time clock mode. [Fav] to the favorites menu, [FM] to the FM screen, [Int Radio] and [Int. TV] to the Internet Radio/TV screens.
- Twitter and Weather data gets refreshed automatically if you activate screen refreshing in the settings screen.

v1.2a - dated: 25 december 2011
- Fixed the volume button.
- When the sleep timer is used, the setting survived reboots. Fixed now.

v1.2 - dated: 25 december 2011
- Added failsafe mode! If for whatever reason the application crashes, there is a backup plan. This only works on the application.
It does not protect against Linux failures etc. There is a real recovery mode for this but unfortunately not installed on all models.
It can however be installed on working devices that do not have the recovery already!
Special files to add the recovery mode will be released after further tests.
- Slowed down device key responses.
- Added Samba username/password logins. Device first tries with guest login if that fails it will ask for username and password.
- Fixed a few small screen print issues.
- Fixed obtaining Gateway/Router address.

v1.1 - dated: 22 december 2011
Fixed (or at least they are supposed to be fixed):
- most connection problems should have been solved
When you power up, there is a red "network" icon in the lower right hand corner. This means the network has not been setup yet.
This red "network" icon will change to green when the network drivers and configuration has been loaded.
If the network has been setup correctly, the green icon should change to a white signal strength indicator within a few seconds..
At this point the connection is working properly. (the connection has been tested by a probe to a public server and there was a check for new firmware on the ListenLive server)
- Static IP now also works
- Network status has been modified and gives more details
- Top device buttons can be used in most of the menus/screens
- Under settings, setting "MyFavorites user account" will instantly clear the favorites cache.
- French language has been added
- Stocks are working
- MediaPlayer previous/next song works.
- Manual setting the time works. (and survives reboots)
- NZ times should have been fixed.
- Clock brightness reset issue is fixed.
- OGG File support
- Flac file support
- FM Radio digits repositioned
- Auto Power Off / Sleeptimer added
- Deleting stored wifi networks
- Improved Samba
- Twitter account setting is now correctly saved
- FM Radio presets added.
Now Radio has 2 operation modes, Tuning mode and Preset mode. Toggle mode with OK button.
In preset mode use < and > to switch between the six on screen stored frequencies.
In Tuning mode use ^and V for freq. up/down scanning, < and > for regular tuning up/down in .10 mhz steps. Press FAV to assign freq. to currently selected memory preset.
- The Alarm clock has been fixed. Alarm can be set once, every day, mon-fri, mon-sat and weekend only. OK/Directional pad activates snooze, exit/menu button deactivates the alarm.

v1.0 - dated 09: december 2011 -
Initial Revision

-----------------------------------

Under investigation:
There might be new bugs or things that we did not see in previous version.
Also there might still be issues with the fixes as listed above.
Be assured that everything will be looked into.

On hold/Planned for a future update:
Level 1: (Most important)
Hidden SSID and SSID with spaces
uPNP

Level 2:
Screensaver
Buienradar -> needs a special version of animated Gif..
Genre options when browsing TV/Radio lists
Scrolling texts when texts are too long
Playing multiple directories at once in mediaplayer
Auto reload interval for twitter/weather
Ability to change the order of the main menu icons and enable/disable them
Displaying date information in chosen language

Level 3:
Graphics/layout improvements
