Ok, there might be some issues with playing from internal memory. I will look into that in the next few days. 1.2a should solve the most critical issues from the previous versions so that the firmware at least works decent.
For a 1.3 version I hope there first will be some air for me... The aim is to focus on adding and improving the functionality (and fixing some bugs). So, that means a look at uPNP, improving Wifi stability and making sure all supported file formats are properly played from every possible source.
Besides that I will also release files to add the recovery mode for those models that do not already have it.
Best Regards, William

Next: media player
- the avi which was not played from flash plays well from sdcard. except the volume keys on rc no rc-key nor button works. oh. Hardware-off-button on arnova works. A second avi somewhat smaller, same divx encoding, does not play ... neither from flash nor sd. after half a second the media player displays the list again.
- mpeg videos do not play.
all of the videos play on my android mobile as well as on pc or nokia n 900 ... and played on the original fw 1.7 and on 1.85p of the arnova.
... and a happy new year ...
cheers

yeah, laugh at me ... sniff
some more from the samba side:
- i am in a position to copy smaller files (< 10 mb) from pc to smb-share (flash) on arnova. But impossible to copy a video of abaut 200 mb. action is always abortet and share is not available anymore.
- the smb-media-share only points to the flash memory, inserted sd does not show up.

strange news. this morn I awoke by a strange sound. Alarm went off allthough both alarms were set to off. as reported before there is an icon in statusbar ... alarmclock with red bubble and a white bar in bubble. supposedly it is the Alarm I set in FW 1.85p, which was not working (Volume cold not be set and remained 0). Now it works in FW 1.1. There is no way to delete it. Survives factory reset and reboot.
Help needed!
good news: Both Alarms in FW 1.1 work now. Unfortunately I cannot choose a readio station nor any song and I dont like the default soundloop ... but I admit there is a progress
by the way: of course in status bar two alarmclock icons with numbers 1 and 2 to be found additionally to the one with red bubble.

I'm looking already two days for the 1.1 upgrade, but I can't find him !?
Something wrong with my eyes, or pc ? |
1.1 was pulled back after I discovered that the Chinese manufacturer did not install the recovery mode on the Arnova devices. I have created an alternative recovery that I have tested with success and this will be available real soon. The release will be version 1.2.
The recovery method is really important! Please hold on and you will be able to enjoy the 1.2 version in less than 24 hours!

Hi William!
Thanks for the new firmware. As I've got a Xoro HMT 350 and I have upgraded from 1.89p to 1.0.
I´d like to upgrade to 1.1, but I can not find the files. Must I do this online or where I can find?
Then I have a problem with Internet radio. My Xoro doesn´t find any entries of Internet radio. Internet TV is working very well.

Got up early this morn ... next findings from my side:
- settings: screensaver clock also not working
- alarm is not working. Alarm settings dont show any options for sound source and volume
- maybe alarm starts since there is a symbol in status bar with red dot. this symbol survives a factory reset despite me setting both alarms to off.
- I understand that smb no login for the time being. nevertheless smb-share on a mobile (se aino) without login credentials (no user no pwd requiered) shows same behaviour: choosing the share shows the mobile's ram and microsd and thereafter empty lists.

Hello,
Here i run Xoro HMT 350 KMP510.0
RM002. static IP and SSID broadcast disabled.
Originaly Fw 1.89p -> update to new Fw 1.00 -> immediatly updated to v 1.10
1/ Try to activate french language: KO -> accentuated chars (é à ù ç) are broken: remplaced by square symbol and crunching 1 or more chars right of it
2/ Network
* One moment in the update process, don't remember if it was on v1.00 or
v1.10, my last used internet radio has been fired up so the network was fine (using previously stored parameters).
* At another moment during my tries to setup network, i've changed the
device name to RadioReveil and i've found this name in my network
neighbourought on my windows 7 netbook.
* But globally it was impossible to have a correct network setting with
the new firmware since i've entered on it for the first time.
- Static IP remplaced by DNS1 address
- DNS1 & 2 forgotten
- On the WIFI settings, on the security settings, the "no password"
line was filed with my static ip, the "wep" line with the subnet mask ip
and the "wap2" line with my router ip ; and impossible to edit this
lines.
- More i tryed to setup network params, less i could edit fields and filled them with good values
- At the "best" moments when starting the Xoro, the network icon goes
red -> green -> 3 points signal -> (wait symbol on screen)
-> red -> green -> 3 points signal -> red -> (wait symbol
disapaered)
So i've went back to 1.89 (not p) for being able to get network working
-> update to v1.00 -> update to v1.10 -> don't touch to network
settings at all -> idem previous line (red -> green -> ...).
Third try, changing my Wifi AP configuration letting my ssid broadcast
enable -> 1.89 -> 1.00 -> 1.10 -> don't touch network
settings at all -> allways KO -> try updating network settings: no
way to get a running config, parameters more and more scrambled.
3/ New specification for my wish on the todo list : icons order as i
allready said but also enabled / disabled icons to be able to get a
light interface with only what i really use.
So your work is really fine but it seems that the worst problem at the moemtn is into network settings when not using DHCP.
If you need / want more details or explanation, let's ask. NOTA: it's the second time that when i post my reply, your server ask me to login first... but i was allready logged, it just forgot it (may be since it take me a long time to write my post)... today i've think to copy to clipboard before clicking on the post reply button and save my message, but yesterday all my remarks written "live" during my tests has been lost.
Regards
eric (leviking)

Dear william, as far as I can see right now, the update for Xoro HMT 350 was stopped. Do you know, when the update is available again? I installed the 1.0 version one hour before the first time and it looks very good. Unfortunately I have problems to establish a connection. Network Icon changed from red to green, but the symbol for signal strenght appears only randomly. Br Snoopy

William, Some aditional information on my panic message: If i boot the device the unit stops at the last circle highlighted 'internet radio', then at last after some seconds the display brightness is reduced. Maybe this helps. If i can be of any assistance in troubleshooting please let me know. Of course this might be an incidental problem, not directly caused by your software? (is there any (ttl) console connection in the device that can be used for troubleshooting??)

Hi Wlliam, tks fr ur efforts and your work. I appreciate that. So do not blame me for my findings: - Static ip still doesnt work. when setting an ip the status screen still shows the one by dhcp. After reeboot the static is shown correctly in status screen but on tuning in to a webradioa station fails. wlan then has no ip (status screen), dns and gate are kept correctly. so back to dynamic ip and favourites work, webradio works - webtv freezes with each station. pls try with german n-tv which ran on 1.85 and runs on all my mobiles. - so, web-tv does not work. even in blubry. cache ist filled to 95 % an then unit crashes. - slideshow settings do not work (no settings screen) - samba still the same issues. after fimware upgrade to 1.1 the media player showed all of my smb-shares, upon selecting one there is an empty screen ... no folders no files ... an no matter whether a windows pc, linux shares, nas shares >>>> Update Samba - an Idea: nearly all of my smb shares require a valid User and a Password and have individual Passwords, the NAS' (AVM FritzBox) user cannot be changed and is "ftpuser", accompanied by an individual Password. The Windows Pc of course uses "Gast" (or Guest) and also has a individual Password. Maybe there is a Problem. Nevertheless, I set up an unprotected share on a Windows PC which, by default, sports the username "Gast" ... no way to display files or folders By the way: Windows PC by default are in the Workgroup "workgrp" and I have some other different Engines in different Workgroups. Sometimes they show up and sometimes not. On the other Hand all of them are shown with fw 1.85 and they did work properly. <<<<< End Update - samba again: initially there was a share named [listenlive] ... of course second page empty. After renaming my unit to [ARNOVA] the listenlive-share is still there. Selecting the arnova-share shows a "media" on second page, but third page is empty and my files on the flashdrive are not shown.. I feel that there is an issue with the workgroup directory. -- accessing the media share via my windows pc shows the correct flash drive content. - media player does not play "simple" divx from flash, whereas on fw 1.85 it did perfectly via upnp or flash or sd-card. mp3 are played fine. the divx shows a 65% until the unit crashes. maybe a prob with ram allocation? - I second the guy who mentioned the hardware buttons ... too fast for me, impossible to do a single step - positive: webradio station country 108, which ran on 1,7, did not run on 1.85 nor 1.0 now works. - onetimebug: switched to weather screen without changing your default amsterdam ... and unit freezed. after changing location it works ok. Freeze means I have to press the power button for some 5 seconds to reboot. I had to update fw by downloading zip and via sd-card. Online-Update available was shown but when I tried, the response was "no firmware file available" So far i just checked quick and dirty ... my wife and children are quite demanding these days
I will stay tuned because you seem to be a tough guy ... but ... anyway ... have a merry merry christmas.

Hi William!
Thanks for the new firmware. As I've got Xoro, I have upgraded from 1.89p to 1.0 and then right to 1.1. I've got following issues / observations (in order of importance):
1.
When I play a stream, it is not possible to decrease volume. It's only
possible to increase volume by "up" button on the top of the device. On
the remote (I've got simple one) it's not possible to do any change of
volume at all.
2.
As already mentioned, top buttons are too sensitive - when I press the button once, it's behaving like I would press it twice.
3. Most of the time, the network icon keeps red despite I've got connection and are able to play streams. Maybe it's because my SSID is hidden and from your post #1 I've got feeling that hidden SSID is still not working properly.
4. I would propose to have possibility to immediately interrupt resolving/connecting phase by "return" key (useful in case URL has some issue).
I would like to thank you again for your efforts!

William, my unit showed that new software was availailable, so this works! Download & upgrade also went smoothly, TOP, i can start playing around. Network connections stil worked after upgrade, no changes needed. 1st-remarks: -network settings shows for router and dns1 same IP, in my case two times DNS 1 IP is showed. -keys on top are (too) sensitive on my unit, probably debouce time too short (@ key press it scrolls two items further) -in mediaplayer (remote and unit) keys 'left' 'right' does not move to next files, it looks like next page, and music playing stops. -in mediaplayer the unit top keys 'up' does adjust volume, 'down' key (unfortunate) does nothing. Hello... ... and congratulations for your job. As i've a Xoro, i can't test the new firmware at the moment but, as developper myself, i've a good idea of the work and time you spent to do the job. A little suggestion for the todo list: a way to customize the order icons appear in the main menu (you're talking about 40 icons so it would be nice if we can choose what icons are on the first screen and in what order, and so long for the next screens). This was my 2 pences to help things advance. Regards Eric (leviking) (Last Edited by leviking on December 22, 2011, 3:22 pm)

Version 1.1 is available now.
Fixed (or at least I think they are) compared to 1.0: - Connection problems should have been solved When you power up, there is a red "network" icon in the lower right hand corner. This means the network has not been setup yet. This red "network" icon will change to green when the network drivers and configuration has been loaded. If the network has been setup correctly, the green icon should change to a white signal strength indicator within a few seconds.. At this point the connection is working properly. (the connection has been tested by a probe to a public server and there was a check for new firmware on this server) - Static IP now also works - Network status has been modified and gives more details - Top device buttons can be used in most of the menus/screens - Under settings, setting "MyFavorites user account" will instantly clear the favorites cache. - French language has been added - Stocks are working (just a fun thing anyway I guess) - MediaPlayer previous/next song works.. - Manual setting the time works. (and survives reboots) - NZ times should have been fixed. - Clock brightness reset issue is fixed. - OGG File support - Flac file support - FM Radio digits repositioned - Auto Power Off / Sleeptimer added - Deleting stored wifi networks - Improved Samba - Twitter account setting is now correctly saved - FM Radio presets added. Now Radio has 2 operation modes, Tuning mode and Preset mode. Toggle with OK button. In preset mode use < and > to switch between the six on screen stored frequencies. In Tuning mode use ^and V for freq. up/down scanning, < and > for regular tuning up/down in .10 mhz steps. Press FAV to assign freq to selected memory preset. - The Alarm clock has been fixed. Alarm can be set once, every day, mon-fri, mon-sat and weekend only. OK/Directional pad activates snooze, exit/menu button deactivates the alarm.
Thats it for 1.1 for at least the short time I had available to fix the most urgent issues.
Under investigation: There might be new bugs or things that we did not see in 1.0 yet. Also there might still be issues with the fixes as listed above. Be assured that everything will be looked into.
- Username/Password support for Samba/CIFS shares has been added.
On hold/Planned for a future update: Level 1: (Most important) WEP support (only 1st key is supported now) Hidden SSID and SSID with spaces uPNP
Level 2: Screensaver Buienradar -> needs a special version of animated Gif.. Genre options when browsing TV/Radio lists Scrolling texts when texts are too long Display song duration and related info Playing multiple directories at once in mediaplayer Auto reload interval for twitter/weather Ability to change the order of the main menu icons
Level 3: Graphics/layout improvements
Feedback is welcome and the only way to get things fixed/improved/added .
