Maybe it's help, after the downgrade i have made, all the things it can be switch on/off in the modified Firmware it was on/off in the new Firmware. Also after downgrade, i made the settings network and have only gave a password, dhcp is on, timezone is as before, Internet time is on, favorites are the same and so on. Only one thing, the backgrounds are missing. In the menu i select other than the first and get a message it's switch to number X but fall back all times to number one. Edit1: I see in other thread, on your todo list >WEP support (only 1st key is supported now) Hidden SSID and SSID with spaces< In 1.85p it works fine with spaces, Hidden SSID too! In the 1.0 it has works too with spaces, Hidden don't probe! Edit2: I have play i wile with the Arnova, made an factory reset and the broken backgrounds are be there. Next i update till 1.2a and play some more time. If i found some issue it couldn't find in the feedback thread from 1.2a i tell it there. Edit3:
So aim at the end of my possibility, the device has decide it's war and nothing else. It's nerveless reachable at PC as disk, the File Error exist as before. It would be nice william if you can give me something on hand. (Last Edited by rst001 on December 29, 2011, 11:21 am)

Something go's wrong wen i update my Arnova. I have update it from the modified 1.85p up to the replacement 1.0 wen the firmware was brand new, probe this and that and decide that the 1.85p was the better one for the moment. Now i will probe the 1.2 and run first the update 1.0 and become always an file error. Is there a way William?

Hi,
I've just tried to update my ertv 208 from 1.84 to 1.0. Although update to 1.84 was all fine previous time, now I got "file error" issue after few minutes. I have re-downloaded the zip once again, but the same problem remains. Does anyone have solution for this?
Thanks a lot (Last Edited by lemmy on December 22, 2011, 7:37 pm)

SSID hidden or more than one word? Known issue and solved here.

Hi there,
I'm currently waiting for the release of the new firmware and don't know if someone mentioned something like this:
The most annoying thing for me regarding the chinese rubbish on my Arnova was, that when I switched on my device I had to click through many ups and downs in order to start my favorite channel. An update available on this site changed this behavior and asked me further on every time when I switched on my Arnova if I wanted to continue with the last channel played...
So, would it be possible to change the behaviour of the Arnova in a way that the device starts with the channel played before when I switch on the radio without asking for something? Could be something in the options section...
By the way: No german TV station stream is working on my 1.0 firmware. N-TV did this before the update...
Regards, Heiko
Quote: I am working on everything that was reported in the other thread. Of course the most critical issues are worked on first... More feedback is welcome.
Release expected very soon.. doing final tweeks..!! *probably 20th/21st*

Ok, lets see how the 1.1 goes then. Working on the packages now. If it remains a problem I probably make some beta version(s) for you to find what is causing the problem.

not sure if this makes finding the fault easier, but we have now connected nine 'things' to this WLAN, one by one, and all work fine:
- one PEARL unit FW1.84
- one XORO unit FW1.89 - two laptops - one desktop - one tablet - two mobile phones - one netbook
all connect perfectly, and work fine on the internet.
the only thing that doesnt work is the ARNOVA on the new FW 1.0, as mentioned. connects, and disconnects the second the internet is accessed.

>> You are not using the 1.0 at the moment?
funny question, see my post 39 above. FW 1.0 is on the unit, and i am TRYING to use it, but since it cannot hold onto the WLAN, i can, right now, use nothing.
rather frustrating.
>> it is fine to install 1.0 and then do the update to 1.1 from the SD card
ah, great. i thought from above that you can only auto-update when you turn on the unit with FW 1.0.
now a bit relieved. might still be able to use it before xmas - and then present you with a long list.

You are not using the 1.0 at the moment?
Anyway, it is fine to install 1.0 and then do the update to 1.1 from the SD card. LAN is not needed for that.

>> all 1.0 users will get a notification when they start their device
wow, that would totally leave me out in the cold! the 1.0 FW does not let me use my WLAN, and the new-new FW will only update if the previous version works. so much for thinking the new-new one would solve my problem ...

Gospel has serious server issues and their streaming server appears to be unreliable. Their website also has some bugs.
The links in out database are correct but it often does not connect.

Hi All.
Could please someone using the new firmware check if one specific radio works? This is the only radio my wife listens to so if it works with the new firmware I will update the firmware otherwise I will stick with the 1.85 for the time being.
This specific radio can be found at: South America, Brazil, Radio Gospel 90.7 FM - Araras.
Thanks in advance and best regards,

i cannot do much, because for xmas i am with friends in austria, and thats where i was doing those tests. even not my computer.
the SSID is surely just a chain of numbers and letters, no spaces or whatever special.
let me repeat what i find strange: the connection shows as strong and stable, and sits there for as long as i want. it ONLY breaks down once it try to actually connect to the internet, like playing a station.
telnet i can right now not do, i am not really firm with it, and the lady who owns the computer setup here already eyes me with suspicion. where ARE those two files you were asking for?
and what version nbrs do you mean? of the units, or the FW? all of them, except the ARNOVA, are as they came from the shop.

anybody ever noticed any router/accespoint related issues?
my three units (XORO and PEARL on old firmware) and ARNOVA (new FW) connect fine to the WLAN of a cheap but solid TP-LINK router. the XORO and PEARL also to a much newer THOMPSON TG585 v7. but whatever it do, i cannot connect the ARNOVA to the THOMPSON. |
Hi, can you list the version numbers. Also, can you telnet into the Xoro or Pearl? If so, can you mail/upload /mnt/mtdblock7/w.conf fro mthe Xoro or Pearl? (Of course you can open the file with a text editor and replace the password and ssid with X-es or so.. like so: ssid="xxxx" psk="xxxxxxx"
Note that if the Arnova is on 1.0 firmware it will fail to connect if the SSID is hidden or has spaces in it.

but whatever it do, i cannot connect the ARNOVA to the THOMPSON. (and i cannot really change my house right now). it connects, stays on full signal, fine. then whatever it do to connect to an actual station, or even just to connect to your server in order to select my user/favorites name, it disconnects the WLAN connection (green to red - resp a crossed out bar display. and does not reconnect.
any idea? if it is important: 23:20 sunday 18dec.

Hi all, i have an odd behavior, does someone else noticed this as well?
I use the mediaplayer to play music files. after power up i select a folder with music files and press the PLAY button (to play the folder), the music starts and all is OK. If i afterwards select another folder and press the play button the music from the first selected folder (after powerup) will be played, The display however displays the (proper) seleceted music file. Playing files with the OK button is always 100% OK changing folders. It seems that the PLAY button keeps the first selected folder in the cache, and does not updates the selected folder, the display however seems to be showing to proper file. (I am using a 8Gb Sd card). Is my SD card bad, or perhaps a sw bug? update, a second SD card has similar behavior, (i am not sure about my remarks on the display, the second SD showed also wrong songnumber from previous folder??) (Last Edited by hans on December 18, 2011, 12:10 pm) |
Yeah, Good find .. I noticed too Already fixed when I fixed the other mediaplayer issues.

Hi, Penbex. I own a Xoro 350 and I´m very grateful that you´ll be doing a new firmware for our radios. One question, would it be possible to put an app like "Tunein radio" in our machines?, I know it´s a very interesting app in android. Perhaps in the 2nd list (the not so important things) Thank you.

Can you make two files? One small (just update) and one big (complete v1.0.1 or whatever). For those who can't install v1.0 (file error) or for those who are still on 1.85(p).

William, i am running software for 1 week, this is TOP software.... , i am still very happy! Can you confirm that telnet is only possible from local subnet. I am running the device from a DMZ and can't access the device from another subnet? (if so, there is NO need to change the software! but please confirm, otherwise a have a firewall issue.) Since the original firmware I was missing the possibility to choose the screen saver between clock or picture Slideshow. I have my Arnova in the kitchen, and would be nice that after some time it starts to show the pictures (slideshow settings) instead of clock. What do you think?

I'm afraid I'm only just getting to having the time spare to start playing with this (no clones for me, sadly). Catching up after being off for surgery . Well, trying to catch up, anyway. Wondering whether to join the fun with version one, or wait in queue for version two... When's it due, your number two? One of my two Xentas is developing a hardware fault, I think (part of display isn't ... displaying ) so I may only update the one to start with, else I'll get very confused as to what's not working, and what I just can't see! I've gotta say, I think that this is simply impossible for one guy to have done in his spare time, especially with Christma.... Oh... William, do you have a red outfit, a bobbly hat, big belly and a few elves to help? Better get all this finished by 24th, as you'll be otherwise engaged that night!

One other thing - on the old firmware, you could "pg up" and "pg down" where you had long lists. There's less of a need in your firmware, since the scrolling is so much quicker / responsive, but it's a "nice to have". | Up/Down still goes up and down, left/right goes a page backward/forward. After the upcoming update this will also work with the top buttons. |
One option i would like is looping in menu's / lists. Scrolling now stops at the beginning / end of a list/menu. I prefer scrolling to the oposite end of the list/menu.

well, just when the 'fading' starts, your player will grind to screeching halt, emitt a constantly whisteling tone, somewhere between a train whistle and grinding a stone, at top volume. and totally freezes - no way to turn it off. and since you got batteries in it, even unplugging does not help ...
life is fun!

Did you check ogg and flac already? At least ogg was playing without problems here earlier on. Oh, private collection.. thus locally stored.. thus mediaplayer section.. I guess I need to add some file extensions for that.. are they just .ogg and .flac ? I probably should get some reference files for testing.

I too am having problems with the samba share being blank, but I understand that's under control.
In addition, can I request that ogg and flac are accepted by the unit - most of my library is in these, and I was transcoding over uPnP, but would prefer to simply play, rather than transcode.
Thanks,

Ok, lets continue in this thread. The other is getting long..
Little progress report
Fixed (or at least I think they are): - Connection problems should have been solved When you power up, there is a red "network" icon in the lower right hand corner. This means the network has not been setup yet. This red "network" icon will change to green when the network drivers and configuration has been loaded. If the network has been setup correctly, the green icon should change to a white signal strength indicator within a few seconds.. At this point the connection is working properly. (the connection has been tested by a probe to a public server and there was a check for new firmware on this server) - Static IP now also works - Network status has been modified and gives more details - Top device buttons can be used in most of the menus/screens - Under settings, setting "MyFavorites user account" will instantly clear the favorites cache. - French language has been added - Stocks are working (just a fun thing anyway I guess) - MediaPlayer previous/next song works.. - Manual setting the time works. (and survives reboots) - NZ times should have been fixed. - Clock brightness reset issue is fixed. - OGG File support - Flac file support - FM Radio digits repositioned - Auto Power Off / Sleeptimer added - Deleting stored wifi networks - Improved Samba - Twitter account setting is now correctly saved - FM Radio presets added. Now Radio has 2 operation modes, Tuning mode and Preset mode. Toggle with OK button. In preset mode use < and > to switch between the six on screen stored frequencies. In Tuning mode use ^and V for freq. up/down scanning, < and > for regular tuning up/down in .10 mhz steps. Press FAV to assign freq to selected memory preset. - The Alarm clock has been fixed. Alarm can be set once, every day, mon-fri, mon-sat and weekend only. OK/Directional pad activates snooze, exit/menu button deactivates the alarm.
Under investigation: Final tests in progress
On hold/Planned for a future update: WEP support (only 1st key is supported now) Hidden SSID and SSID with spaces uPNP Screensaver Buienradar -> needs a special version of animated Gif.. Genre options when browsing TV/Radio lists Scrolling texts when texts are too long Graphics/layout improvements Display song duration and related info Playing multiple directories at once in mediaplayer Auto reload interval for twitter/weather
I am working on everything that was reported in the other thread. Of course the most critical issues are worked on first... More feedback is welcome.
Release expected very soon.. doing final tweeks..!! *probably 20th/21st*
